Bevelled Antique Mirror Staircase Installation in Queen’s Gate, London 30mm Bevel Antique Mirror Panels Supplied & Fitted for Luxe

30mm Bevel Antique Mirror Panels | Supplied & Fitted for Luxe Interior Design

This bespoke antique mirror staircase installation was completed by Hamilton Glass Products at a luxury property in Queen’s Gate, London, as part of a high-end interior fit-out for the design and build company Luxe.

The project involved the supply and installation of 600mm × 600mm antique mirror panels, each finished with a deep 30mm bevel, creating a refined, architectural feature wall that follows the staircase line and amplifies light throughout the stairwell.

This type of installation requires precise planning, specialist processing, and expert fitting to achieve perfect alignment across multiple levels — particularly in tall, visually prominent stair cores.

Project Overview

  • Location: Queen’s Gate, London

  • Application: Staircase feature wall

  • Glass Type: Antique mirror

  • Panel Size: Approx. 600mm × 600mm

  • Edgework: 30mm deep bevel on all visible edges

  • Layout: Multi-panel grid following stair geometry

  • Client: Luxe (high-end interior fit-out company)

  • Supply: Hamilton Glass Products

  • Installation: Specialist mirror fitting team

Each panel was carefully matched for tone and patina, ensuring consistency across the full stair elevation while still maintaining the natural character of antique mirror.

Why Antique Mirror Works So Well in Staircases

Staircases are often the most visually powerful architectural spaces in period and luxury homes — and also the most challenging.

Antique mirror is ideal in these areas because it:

  • Reflects light into darker vertical spaces

  • Adds depth without overpowering

  • Enhances architectural details

  • Creates a sense of height and openness

  • Works beautifully with decorative lighting

In this project, the mirror panels reflect both the staircase and the sculptural pendant lighting, creating a layered, constantly changing visual experience as you move through the space.

Deep 30mm Bevel – A True Specialist Detail

A 30mm bevel is not a standard finish — it is a specialist process that requires precise control to avoid damaging the silvering on antique mirror.

All bevels for this project were:

  • Ground and polished in-house

  • Matched across all panels

  • Aligned for consistent light refraction

  • Finished to create a framed effect without trims

The bevelled edges catch the light from the stairwell pendants, adding sparkle and definition to every panel.

In-House Processing & Quality Control

All glass was processed at our Surrey workshop, allowing us to control every stage of the project, including:

  • Cutting panels to exact size

  • Bevel grinding and polishing

  • Patina matching across the set

  • Panel labelling and sequencing

  • Pre-installation quality inspection

  • Safe transport in glass racking systems

This level of control is essential for high-end interior design projects where consistency and finish are non-negotiable.

Specialist Staircase Installation

Installing mirror panels in stairwells is one of the most technically demanding applications due to:

  • Height changes

  • Sightlines from multiple floors

  • Tight tolerances

  • Reflections amplifying errors

For this Queen’s Gate project, we used:

  • Laser alignment for grid accuracy

  • Sequential installation from datum lines

  • Specialist mirror adhesives

  • Mechanical support during curing

  • Final optical inspection from multiple levels

The finished result is a seamless, architecturally aligned mirror wall that reads as a single design feature rather than individual panels.
